SamPWoo.com – Devils fans. Times like these, we need to stick together and support for our beloved mascot, NJ Devil.

I came across a Facebook news feed that NJ Devil needs our help. Apparently, ESPN Radio is running a March Madness type bracket called, “Doug Gottlieb’s Mascot Madness” and NJ Devil has made it to the Sweet 16 thus far.

After upsetting the #3 ranked, Rally Monkey, we, as Devils fans, need to ante up all of our online poker chips and go all in. Let’s win this Mascot Madness tournament and bring some good karma before the Stanley Cup playoffs. You think I am crazy?

I’ve always lived by the mentality that it has been “Devils fans against the world.” Getting NJ Devil to win the ESPN Radio award will show the entire Devils players, management, and the entire hockey community that we are committed to winning. After all, that is the fabric and foundation of the New Jersey Devils’ winning culture in the first place. All of us, whether you are a ticket representative, janitor, scout, season ticket holder, or even the owner, winning the Stanley Cup is our first priority every year.

For every rail slide, prank, chest bump, t-shirt toss, or even asking the loud Devils fans to politely quiet down at the New Jersey state capital building during Martin Brodeur Day, NJ Devil has always been there for us. He is that trusted friend you always wanted to be at your wedding and can count on at every Devils game. It is time we pay homage to the mascot that has kept us smiling and cheering for our New Jersey Devils.

Puppy Bowl during the NFL’s Super Bowl

SamPWoo.com – My girlfriend was flipping through the channels during the Super Bowl. And on Animal Planet, they had the puppy bowl.

I have an idea. If Animal Planet wants to gain some market share in ratings next season, they should have the Puppy Bowl, Hosted by Michael Vick.

The program should also help raise money for animal shelters or organizations to help stop dog fighting.

Rex Ryan in trouble

SamPWoo.com – Well, I am not a Jets fan, but I do like Rex Ryan’s attitude.

He sets high standards and maps it out for his team. Everything, including the parade, was scheduled. Some say it is being cocky. I say it is setting the bar high and showing what you can achieve when you meet your goals of winning the Super Bowl.

Now, I see he got in trouble after he was heckled by the fan. Ryan knows it was stupid in what he did, but at the same time, do you blame him?

I hope this coach has a lot of success. Just maybe not with the Jets.

Underdog Tom Watson puts on a show

SamPWoo.com -Tom Watson maybe 59 but he sure put on a show.

As he walked down the fairway, everyone knew he was going to finish second during the playoff round. The crowd cheered loudly and the amount of class displayed at the 2009 Open Championship was spectacular.

You would think that Tiger Woods would dominate the headlines. But sometimes, the older players can come about and make a run at the impossible. As a golf fan, you want it to happen and sometimes, miracles can happen. But after today, anyone around Watson’s age can feel real good about themselves the next time they go out on the golf course.

Watson made a statement.
